A letter home from study abroad
September 29, 1996
Hello my faithful readers. I'm sorry i've been silent
the past week and a half...I can't even offer the excuse that
I've been too busy....i'm just a slacker. Classes are...well,
classes. One day in class, I decided to pull off my sweater
becuase I was really hot. Much to my surprise, the professor
stopped class and ordered me to put my sweater back on. I was
informed that if I didn't wear my sweater I'd end up in the
hospital and I didn't want to end up in the hospital, did I?
So, I meekly put my sweater back on. In the past week and a
half, life has become routine. After class, I tend to run a
few errands. Now I've got a teapot, a frying pan and a big
pot...unfortunately, I don't have a fridge. The other day, I
located several avocados and we made guacamole. It made
several people very happy. In an effort to do something with
myself, I've sent a letter to GlasNet, the local ISP asking
about work opportunities. The response I got was positive,
but I'm still waiting for a more concrete answer. I've
finally gotten back in touch with my friend nadia and I think
i'm going to get to see her sometime this week.
Several of you will be happy to know that the
Babylon-5 pilot is on tuesday at 9:30. It should be fairly
amusing--it was actually listed as one of the three most
interesting things on tuesday night in the local equivalent of
TV-Guide.
Last night, my friend Carrie treated me to dinner at
Azteca, a mexican restaurant. My burritos were more like
enchiladas, but the portions were big and the prices ($25 per
person incl. appetizers, drinks) weren't too bad. The waiters
were spanish, as far as we could tell....but the food was
definately mexican.
God, I'm appalled at how bad my english is getting.
I can hardly put a grammatically correct sentence together
anymore. It's almost comical.
Take care.
